When we were children, we viewed our parents as their grand, all-knowing creatures. It isn't until we enter high school and quickly outsmart them that we realize they are just people, just like us. Flawed, grumpy, awkward people. It's kind of encouraging. I used to think that people needed have a minimum amount of wisdom to have children as well, but nope. If you're going the old-fashioned route, all you need are a few glasses of wine and a 'why not attitude' on the right day of your cycle.
Next time you feel like you aren't the best possible parent you can be, remember that parents are just people! We cannot be expected to be perfect. Anyone to expects perfection is bound to be disappointed anyway. So just let yourself be flawed, and make sure to routinely laugh at how ridiculous parenting is. The more you laugh, the better.
